Back in the summer of 2015, Rangers signed James Tavernier and Martyn Waghorn in a double deal from Wigan Athletic.
And while both players arrived with much excitement surrounding their transfers, as far as Waghorn’s time at Ibrox goes, not everything panned out the way Rangers supporters would have hoped.

In short, Tavernier has been a revelation since joining, but the same cannot be said for Waghorn.
The 28-year-old was prolific in the 2015/16 Scottish Championship campaign as he fired Rangers back into the SPL with his 20 goals from 25 appearances.
However, Waghorn struggled once Rangers were promoted to Scottish football’s top flight, managing to net on just seven occasions before being sold to Ipswich Town.
The former Wigan man is now playing his football under Frank Lampard at Derby County following his £4m (via Sky Sports) transfer from Portman Road in the summer.
With the possibility of the initial £4m fee Derby paid rising to £8m, it is a deal that has left some in Scotland baffled given how lacklustre the Sunderland youth product was in the SPL.
Ultimately, unlike Tavernier, Waghorn never managed to meet the expectations of supporters once Rangers returned to the summit of Scottish football.
