Newcastle United enjoyed a positive run of results prior to the international break, while West Ham United are slowly beginning to build up ahead of steam.
The Magpies will be desperate to climb even further up the table having secured a couple of impressive victories in recent times. Meanwhile, the Hammers will be looking to enjoy a winning streak as they continue to hunt down a European place under Manuel Pellegrini.
Sadly, the Premier League has allowed supporters to witness a number of disappointing individual performances this season, with Javier Hernandez and Joselu being experts at performing below par.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
JOSELU

Newcastle United signed Joselu from Stoke City back in the summer of 2017 for £5 million on a three-year deal.
Sadly, the forward has just never been able to find his feet in front of goal as he continues to establish himself as one of the worst signings that the club has ever made.
The Spaniard currently has two goals to his name in the current campaign and was looking promising towards the start of the season, but this was too good to be true as he returned to his usual ways by putting in a number of appalling performances in the black and white stripes.
Mike Ashley just doesn’t help himself when it comes to signing players in transfer windows, with Joselu being another example of him wasting time and effort on the wrong players.

JAVIER HERNANDEZ

Javier Hernandez joined West Ham United back in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £16 million.
The Mexican was scoring goals for fun prior to his move to the English capital as he set the German Bundesliga alight during his time at Bayer Leverkusen. However, his time at the London Stadium has been a whole different story as he continues to disappoint, with the £16 million fee still yet to be covered by his performances.
He managed to produce eight goals last season but has only found the back of the net on two occasions in the current campaign, despite making an impact off the substitutes’ bench with a goal against Burnley recently.

TT VERDICT:
When comparing these two, it’s clear to see that Javier Hernandez has been able to grind out positive performances at times and still contributes occasionally, while Joselu has slipped to the bottom of the pecking order at St James’ Park due to a number of unacceptable performances in the side.
The Mexican has been able to grab a number of goals during his time at West Ham United, but his overall time at the club has been horrific as he has been the reason behind their struggles on a number of occasions.
Meanwhile, Joselu has never really looked like doing anything special at Newcastle United, with constant disappointing performances contributing towards the Magpies’ poor start to proceedings.
Both players could be on their way out of their respective clubs in the January transfer window, but it’s Hernandez that has shown more promise during his time in the Premier League, with Joselu still stealing a living in the top-flight of English football.
