Leeds United supporters in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the new Championship season, although they are sincerely hoping that their club sort out the managerial situation as soon as possible.
The Yorkshire heavyweights relieved Paul Heckingbottom of his duties last week after just four months in charge at Elland Road, this all after leading the club to just four wins in his 16 matches at the helm, eventually resulting in a 13th place finish in the second tier. However, the Leeds hierarchy decided that he was not the man to take the Whites forward next term, but his successor has still yet to be determined, much to the frustration of several of our resident Leeds supporters.
And several of those Leeds fans in the Tavern took to Twitter yesterday to react to an Instagram post from defender Pontus Jansson, in which the defender denied claims that he was frustrated at the club, thus plunging into doubt his future at the Yorkshire giants.

And while his response has been well received by Whites supporters on Twitter, with many taking it as a sign that he’d be staying at the club, they should certainly be worried by the prospect of losing the £5.4 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt) this summer.
Ultimately, the 27-year-old has proven to be one of the most influential defenders in the second tier during his time at Elland Road, appearing 34 times for the club last term in their run to seventh place in the table, and indeed 42 times this time round.
Thus, he is clearly an integral part of things at the club and will be an asset for whoever the new manager may be, and his status as one of the better centre backs in the division is always going to attract interest.
And were he to go on and possibly play a part for Sweden in this summer’s World Cup, interest is sure to mount in the defender’s services, and regardless of whether or not Jansson wants to remain at the club, that is sure to concern and worry our resident Whites supporters.
Significantly, it is highly unlikely that the 27-year-old would come out and admit to his frustrations and that a move away is indeed in the back of his mind, as doing so would see several supporters jump down his throat and seriously question his loyalty – it wouldn’t be a very wise move ahead of a World Cup, in which he may put himself in the shop window.
Ultimately, as like any player currently playing in the Championship, Jansson will likely want to have a taste of Premier League football sooner rather than later, so while he has come out and played down those comments with a straight bat, there is likely to be an element of frustration given Leeds’ inability to, so far, give him that.
And were a bid to come in for the Swedish ace from a top-flight side, it’s perfectly plausible that he could indeed leave this summer, which will be of obvious concern to those Leeds fans lining up at the bar.
