Tyrone Mings is the defender Aston Villa need in January

Aston Villa are hopeful of reaching the top flight once again but know it will be an immense challenge to achieve that goal.

Dean Smith is doing his very best to coach Aston Villa into becoming a top team once again but knows deep down they will be reliant on some business in January, should they succeed at the end of the season.

In what has already been a rollercoaster campaign for Aston Villa, suffering embarrassing defeats yet toppling fellow Premier League hopefuls, they know that with their strong squad, they can be a tough opponent for anyone to face.

With the addition of a defender like Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings though, Villa could be in great shape to stop conceding goals and focus on scoring them at the other end of the pitch.

Mings, who is valued at £3.6 million on Transfermarkt, is a player on the fringes at Bournemouth that would make a great addition at Villa Park.

The 25-year-old has just two appearances to his name this season and that simply isn’t enough for a talented English defender like Tyrone Mings.

Instead, a move to Aston Villa could give him the valuable pitch time he needs to make an impact for the club.

With the race for promotion heating up, the versatility that Mings has to play both left-back and centre-back could make him a vital player.

Dean Smith will be hoping that with the strong squad he already possesses, Villa would have a great chance at success with the addition of the likes of Tyrone Mings in January.

Undoubtedly he has the quality to start and improve Aston Villa’s back-line, further portraying why this would be a good move for all involved.
