The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern always have a lot to say about their side’s transfer business. The Red Devils have spent big over the last few years, and moves have always generated a lot of talk amongst our resident Reds.
From Paul Pogba, to Romelu Lukaku, to Alexis Sanchez this past January, fans have often made their verdict clear whenever a big player moves to Old Trafford.
They could get another chance to deliver a verdict of that kind this summer, at least according to Duncan Castles – who has been reporting for the Daily Record. According to the Daily Record, Man Utd have made initial contact with Samuel Umtiti regarding a potential move for the Frenchman – with the Barcelona defender apparently yet to agree fresh terms at the Nou Camp.
It would certainly be a huge move were he to swap Barcelona for Old Trafford. Rated at £36 million by Transfer Markt, Umtiti is undoubtedly one of Europe’s best defenders, having offered incredible quality at the back since his move to Spain.
He’s been a regular this season, and with good reason.
Unsurprisingly, news of Man Utd’s potential interest has already got fans talking over on Twitter, and it’s fair to say that it’s a popular potential move. With supporters touting him as the perfect addition, it seems clear that were he to arrive, it would be met with unanimous delight.
