It has been a decent season for the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern so far, but next season could be even better…
Jose Mourinho has spearheaded a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford this season, and whilst his early days were a little bit shaky – his side has become unbeatable over the last few months.
It was clear that the Portuguese boss wasn’t sure on his best team, and now that he has resolved that issue, his side has gone from strength to strength.
However, Mourinho clearly isn’t happy with his side – given that the Red Devils have now been linked with a move for Toni Kroos. Undoubtedly one of Europe’s best, Kroos could revolutionise the Man Utd midfield, allowing Mourinho to build quite the impressive midfield line.
With that said, is this the potential new-look Man United midfield including class German star?
CM – Ander Herrera
Ander Herrera has come on leaps and bounds since he joined Man Utd, and under Mourinho, he has really turned into one of the Premier League’s best.
Playing slightly deeper in the midfield, Herrera is able to dictate the game, whilst also helping to break up play in his defence.
He is up there with the best in the Premier League when it comes to creating chances, and he has been vital for Man Utd’s first team this season.
CM – Toni Kroos
What an addition he would be.
Toni Kroos is, undoubtedly, one of Europe’s finest midfielders – with the German offering dynamic attacking play and impressive technical ability from the middle-of-the-park.
Of course, this duo are relatively offensive – and so both Kroos and Herrera will need to ensure that they are defensively minded, but given the quality that both players possess, our landlord thinks that they will be able to pull it off.
They’ll also have this man to back them up when possible…
CAM – Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba had a slow start to life in Manchester, but he is finally starting to show his true colours.
Playing slightly further forward, Pogba is able to really influence the game by driving at opposing defences – and that has been reflected by Man Utd’s upturn in results as the season has progressed.
As mentioned, he’ll need to keep an eye out defensively – but he is more than capable of covering that area of the field, too.
Excellent passing, dynamic dribbling and powerful aerial work – Pogba is argueably the complete midfielder.
