After failing to beat Stoke City on Saturday at senior level, the Villains would have been hopeful of one-upping the Potters at U23 level last night, and they put out a side strong enough to dispose of the pint-sized Potters.
Tonight’s team news for our U23s as we face @StokeCity here at Marston Road, kick-off 7pm
It’s a huge welcome back to @KeinanDavis_, who’s been out of action for a prolonged spell with a hip injury. #PartOfThePride #AVFC pic.twitter.com/yUKpdtxPrB

In the end, it wasn’t to be for the young Villa side, who despite an inspired second-half performance, fell to a 3-2 defeat. The likes of Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Keinan Davis and Callum O’Hare were thrown in for the clash and it was expected that the Aston Villa U23s would be running away with the clash, even if in reality it didn’t quite go to plan.
It looks like Villa fans will have to wait to get that elusive win over Stoke City after now failing twice, but that won’t bother the fans too much as both their senior side and U23s are doing a great job at the moment and should be commended. The future is certainly bright for them going off of the strength of their side last night, and whilst the result wasn’t great, the score wasn’t the only important aspect of last night.

The Villains loved the strength of their young side and despite the result they’re looking forward to a bright future at Villa Park.
