Wolverhampton Wanderers have an agreement in place to sign Lommel SK midfielder Vinicius Souza this summer, according to a report.

The Lowdown: Summer rebuild needed?

Julen Lopetegui is immediately tasked with preserving Wolves’ Premier League status, however he will most likely need to rebuild the team in the summer, given that some of the club’s top players are being linked with moves away.

Ruben Neves is said to be keen on a move to Barcelona, while Liverpool are named as potential suitors for the midfielder, with the likes of Max Kilman and Adama Traore also being touted to leave the club.

The Latest: Agreement for Vinicius

According to a report from Spain, the Old Gold are targeting a summer move for midfielder Vinicius, who is currently on loan at Espanyol, and they allegedly already have an agreement in place.

The owners of Manchester City, City Football Group, also own Lommel SK, and they are happy for the midfielder to move to Wolves next season, rather than remaining with Espanyol, where he has impressed considerably on loan.

First up in this Wolves transfer quiz, who was the last player to be signed by Bruno Lage at Molineux?

The Verdict: Good signing?

At 23-years-old, the Brazilian is at the right age to be a fantastic long-term addition in the engine room, and he particularly specialises in the defensive side of the game.

Over the past year, the Rio de Janeiro-born ace has averaged 4.01 tackles per 90, placing him in the 99th percentile compared to other midfielders in similar leagues, also ranking in the 96th for interceptions and aerials won.

The no-nonsense midfielder has been a vital cog in the Espanyol midfield this season, making 24 appearances in all competitions, mainly sitting deep in front of the defence, which indicates he could take on a lot of Neves’ responsibilities, should he leave the club.

Hailed as ‘superb’ by one South American football expert, Vinicius’ defensive acumen would make him a very good signing for Wolves this summer, and fans should be excited about a deal already appearing to be in place.
