It’s hard to dispute the sentiment that Liverpool have had the best transfer window of the top teams in the Premier League. Whilst the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea have stumbled, the Reds have sought to steal a march on their rivals, and they have done so to devastating effect.
From Fabinho to Alisson, Liverpool have plugged key squad gaps with real purpose, but there is more work for Jurgen Klopp to do.
Whilst the squad has gone up a notch in terms of quality following the arrival of some key men, Liverpool are still being held back by some average players within the squad.
Indeed, it’s time for a clearout of sorts to be bestowed upon the squad as Jurgen Klopp looks to take his team to the next level.
With that said, Klopp has made a mistake by not selling these 2 Liverpool players already…
Lazar Markovic was signed with high expectations on his shoulders, but he didn’t quite hit the heights of Mohamed Salah, not by a long shot.
The attacking midfielder failed to make an impact at Anfield, and unfortunately for him, the team has now outgrown him considerably.
With top players like Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, it’s unlikely that he’ll get another chance at Anfield anytime soon.
The Reds will likely have to take a financial hit on him, but at this point, he’s a bit of a lost cause.
Alberto Moreno has had a tough time of it at Anfield.
The Spaniard’s inconsistent form eventually led to Andy Robertson’s rise, and it seems unlikely that he will ever get a regular starting role at Anfield again.
On his day, he’s solid, and going forward he’s always been decent – but the Spaniard is just not a very good defender.
Time for him to go, and Klopp needs to replace him with a more suitable option.
