Man Utd’s summer has been a slow one so far, to say the least. Though they’ve signed a few big players, they haven’t been as active as most fans likely will have been expecting, with Jose Mourinho likely unhappy with the progress so far.
It’s not just like they haven’t been active with regards to incomings, either.
They’ve also struggled to shift players that are within the squad at present, with a number of players still at the club that Mourinho would likely like to see replaced.
It’s been a few years of transition for the Red Devils, but now is the time for Joses Mourinho to banish the old guard and go about signing some fresh, incredible talent.
But who should be on the chopping board?
Well, Mourinho has made a mistake by not selling these 2 Man Utd players already – agreed?
Phil Jones had the potential to be a fantastic player, and even at moments over the last year or two, he has looked very good.
However, injuries have taken their toll, and it’s fair to say that he’s never going to be the player Sir Alex Ferguson thought he would be.
He struggled for England at the World Cup when he played, and inconsistency reigned over the course of his campaign last term.
He’s a mistake waiting to happen, and he’s one that Jose Mourinho should have already sold.
Another defender, Chris Smalling’s time has been coming for a while.
Like Jones, it’s an achievement that he’s lasted so long at Old Trafford. He’s been distinctively average for much of his career, and under Jose Mourinho, that’s been particularly true.
He’s become more of a rotational option for the Red Devils, and he’s not even very good at that.
Smalling has been a decent servant, but Mourinho needs to aim his sights a little higher.
