Watford star reluctant to see striker join club’s ranks

Troy DeeneyOur punters here at the Transfer Tavern think this particular story could get interesting. After Emmanuel Adebayor was recently linked to Premier League new boys Watford, it appears that captain Troy Deeney has very much had his say.

According to the Watford Observer, Deeney certainly hasn’t been afraid to speak his mind on the Togo international, who has previously played for Premier League sides Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Deeney joked that he would ‘happily tell Adebayor elsewhere’, but whether or not he was actually joking remains to be seen.

Watford have very much hit the ground running this season, out-performing both the other newly promoted clubs Bournemouth and Norwich significantly. Manager Quique Sanchez Flores has made Watford a very solid side who are difficult to beat, while they also have one of the league’s most in form striker’s in Odion Ighalo.

While Adebayor has undoubted quality, it appears that the likes of Deeney may be worried about his attitude, and will certainly not want him to come in and spoil the good team spirit that is clearly present at Vicarage Road at the moment.

All that said, if he came in with the right frame of mind, his quality could secure their position in the top flight sooner rather than later.

Watford fans, are you with your captain or do you want Adebayor to sign? Let us know in the comments below!
