The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Sun that claims Fulham are interested in Newcastle duo, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle. The Cottagers currently have Mitrovic on-loan and are enjoying his spell at Craven Cottage as he’s scored 12 goals in 16 Championship appearances for this season.

Newcastle have overachieved dramatically this season and they currently sit 10th in the Premier League and well clear of relegation. Rafa Benitez has managed to get Newcastle to an unbelievable position despite the fact their highest Premier League goalscorer is both Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle who have scored five goals each. The Magpies have scored at a rate of a goal per game so far, scoring 35 goals in their 35 games and have managed to achieve without a marquee goalscorer.
Fulham, on the other hand, are in the Championship and are currently fighting with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff for the second automatic promotion place, with the other one of them having to take on the playoffs if they want promotion. Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham are currently one point behind Cardiff with one game to play and will most likely be settling for a place in the playoffs, that hasn’t stopped them from drawing up a list of transfer targets though as they prepare for life next season, be it in the Championship or the Premier League.
