Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern finally had something to cheer over the weekend after seeing their side get back to winning ways.
Ronald Koeman’s men were stuck in a four-game losing streak in all competitions prior to Saturday’s visit of AFC Bournemouth, and that run looked set to continue when Josh King gave the Cherries a 49th minute lead.
However, an Oumar Niasse brace sealed a much-needed win for the Toffees to move them out of the Premier League’s bottom three, and give them something to build on when they return to Europa League action against Apollon Limassol on Thursday.
And Niasse’s impact off the substitute’s bench at the weekend went some way to addressing the club’s evident striking issues, and recent reports from The Daily Mirror suggest that they are seeking to address that in January as well.
And that’s because they report that the Toffees have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid forward Kevin Gameiro, who has mustered just 27 minutes of La Liga action for Diego Simeone’s side so far this season.
The 30-year-old scored 16 goals in all competitions last term but looks set to suffer from the arrival of Diego Costa in January, and thus could well be on the lookout for more regular football away from the Spanish capital.
And Everton is a possible destination for the France international, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Toffees supporters on Twitter.
And it’s fair to say that many aren’t getting their hopes up about a possible deal for Gameiro…
Shouldn’t they have considered this in July?
