The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are already looking forward to January…

The Gunners have enjoyed a good start to the Premier League season, and the optimistic Gunners fans in the Tavern are touting them for a title challenge this season.

As with every year, January is often a time when titles are won and lost – as teams either buy players that win them the title; or they lose players and subsequently struggle in the league.

Arsenal must do some business in January, and our landlord thinks that they should look towards African stars in their pursuit.

The continent is often forgotten about as a hotbed of top talent, but some of Europe’s biggest names have passed through en route to superstardom.

It is of course, the African Cup Of Nations in January, though this doesn’t mean transfers cannot happen…

With that said, Wenger must consider signing these TWO African stars for Arsenal in January..

Riyad Mahrez

Arsenal were reportedly keen on Mahrez over the summer, but a deal did not materialise – but January could be the perfect time to go back in for the Algerian.

Leicester have struggled this year, and they are practically already out of the race to retain their title – and Mahrez could look to move on to a side that challenges every season.

Leicester’s poor form may mean Mahrez could try and force a cut-price move; and Arsenal could get a huge deal as a result.

Yacine Brahimi

Arsenal are not short on attacking midfield talent, but they cannot afford to miss out on Yacine Brahimi.

The Algerian winger has been unstoppable in Portugal as of late, and has become a very important part of Porto’s first team.

Offering exquisite dribbling and technical brilliance, Brahimi is unstoppable going forward – and could prove deadly alongside a player like Alexis Sanchez, or indeed, Riyad Mahrez.

Interestingly, he was named 2014’s BBC African footballer of the Year which is a testament to his ability.

With ongoing reports linking both Sanchez and Ozil with the exit door over high contract demands – Brahimi could be an excellent replacement.

He is destined for a big money move soon, but Arsenal must react first.
