Arsenal will be hoping to avoid a banana skin moment when they take on non-league giant killers Sutton United tomorrow night in the FA Cup.
The Gunners fans here in the Tavern are in a solemn mood following their midweek drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich. Tomorrow’s game in the cup could not represent a starker contrast in opposition, with Sutton expected to simply scrap and fight for all they can.
Our Arsenal fans though over at the dartboard are not looking so confident, with very much a feeling of ‘anything can happen’ setting in among them.
Our landlord thinks Arsenal need to be keeping their eye on the prize this season with the FA Cup, and we agree with his verdict.
With this in mind, here are TWO reasons why under pressure Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger needs to take the FA Cup seriously…
It could save his job

If there is one thing Wenger has been good at winning, it is the FA Cup.
No manager has been more successful in the competition in English football in the last 20 years, and Wenger will be keen to add the trophy to the cabinet once again.
With the Premier League out of reach the Champions League now gone, Wenger should be going all out to win the English games premier cup competition.
It means a lot to fans – and Wenger

Despite what many say, there is still nothing better than seeing your team reach a cup final and enjoying a day out at Wembley.
The Gunners fans might want the Premier League title and more, but the FA Cup is still a great competition, and it would be lovely for the club to win it once more in what could be Arsene Wenger’s last season at the club.
Wenger would love to go out on a high if he decides to leave, and the FA Cup could be the perfect swansong.
