Wenger provides optimistic update on status of 25-year-old Arsenal midfielder

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t feeling too good at the moment…

It’s been a poor start to the season for the Gunners, with very little to celebrate at present.

With just one win in three games, things are looking particularly bleak.

However, at last, Arsene Wenger has provided something small to smile about, and it surrounds midfielder Jack Wilshere. Injury prone and out of form lately, Wilshere isn’t a perfect player, but you can always guarantee maximum effort from the Englishman, and that’s what the Gunners need right now.

Fortunately, then, Wenger’s suggestion that Wilshere is in a ‘positive trend’ does suggest that it won’t be too long until he’s back to fitness.

Prior to suffering an injury, Jack Wilshere enjoyed a stellar season with Bournemouth last year and was expected to return to Arsenal with a head of steam. That hasn’t happened, but there is – of course – still time.

Right now, things couldn’t be going any worse at the Emirates, and so the return of a passionate player like Wilshere is a positive step.

Landlord’s Verdict

The problem at Arsenal at present is it often looks like some of the players don’t care. They’re in a rut, and they’re finding it hard to get out.

Wilshere is the sort of player that can help them escape that, and so Wenger needs to get him fit as soon as possible.
