The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about this season…
Their biggest concern this term surrounds Alexis Sanchez, whose contract expires next summer. The Chilean’s future looks increasingly uncertain, and after failing to secure a move over the summer, many Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have raised their concerns about his lack of commitment.
This supposed problem, though, is not something that is concerning Arsene Wenger. In fact, to the contrary, it appears as though the Frenchman believes that Sanchez is as committed as ever.
Speaking to the official Arsenal website, Wenger said: “He is disciplined, serious and committed”.
He added: “He is focused. He told me he is focused on the Premier League and Europa League. On top of that Chile had a bad experience, but he came back full of desire and was ready to play”.
Clearly, then, Wenger has no worries about Sanchez – but it’s time for the Chilean to back up that confidence with good performances.
The winger has struggled since returning to action, and so he needs to start repeating the form that he displayed last season. Wenger, though, clearly has no concerns.
Landlord’s Verdict
Sanchez was a star last season, but he has yet to show that sort of form this season.
Whether you believe Wenger or not, though, it’s clear that if he is to move on next summer and secure a big contract, then he needs to prove his worth with good performances this year.
If he doesn’t, it could prove detrimental for Arsenal and Sanchez.
