West Bromwich Albion were reasonably active during the summer months as boss Tony Pulis tried to seek out new additions for his squad with width high on his agenda.
One signing that really put a smile on the Transfer Tavern’s pool team, who are all big Albion followers, was the loan move for Arsenal starlet Serge Gnabry.
The 20-year-old has been used sparingly so far by the ex-Stoke boss and several Albion supporters have been baffled as to why, including the lads in the Tavern.
Pulis has today lifted the lid on the reasoning behind Gnabry featuring for just 12 minutes of Albion’s 2015/16 campaign so far. He has told the Birmingham Mail:
“Serge has come here to play games but at the moment he just isn’t at that level to do that. He has come from academy football and not played much league football – does that really prepare young players for league football? Premier League football at that.”
“You pick your team accordingly and it’s nothing personal, he just isn’t quite there yet.”
One punter is reading the paper awaiting his beer and a burger and he thinks Pulis is right about Gnabry, claiming his is usually a good judge of player, and trusts his instinct on this occasion.
