Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a little aggrieved today and things could get worse with French outlet La Provence claiming Marseille are aiming to bring Dimitri Payet back to the club.
After losing 2-0 to Manchester United last night our local Hammers were wanting a bit of a pick-me-up to start the week but instead they have been dealt this potentially devastating news that one of their stars could go.
Payet was easily the Irons’ best player last season as he helped fire them to 7th place in the league but things have not gone as well this season so far with the club only recently finding some form.
Before then, they had been looking set for a relegation battle but at least mid-table safety is now achievable.
They’ll be looking to have a more successful January window than the one in the summer of this season with many of their signings from that window flopping dramatically but it’ll surely involve wanting to keep Payet, too.
Our landlord thinks the Hammers need to keep the Frenchman at all costs if they are to keep pushing forward.
