A number of West Ham supporters were fuming over the reported reason as to why Grady Diangana’s transfer to West Brom was sanctioned.
The 22-year-old, who was on loan with the Baggies last season, completed a permanent transfer worth £18m to The Hawthorns, which led to Hammers captain Mark Noble voicing his anger over the sale on social media.
According to The Athletic, the Irons believe that the £18m deal, along with a 20% sell-on fee, represents goods business for a player who is unproven in the Premier League, in which Diangana has made just 17 appearances (11 as a substitute).

However, the winger played his part in getting West Brom promoted to the top flight last term, with eight goals and seven assists in 30 league matches. Michail Antonio was the only Hammers player with a higher goal tally in 2019/20, while nobody in David Moyes’ squad set up more than five goals (as per TransferMarkt).
These West Ham fans on Twitter were livid over the club’s apparent reasoning for selling the 22-year-old, with one supporter lamenting “the irony of this” and sniping that much-maligned club owners David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady are “unproven in the Premier League”. Since the former two took control of the club in 2010, the Hammers have only once finished higher than 10th in the top flight and spent one season in the Championship (as per TransferMarkt).

Stupid comment. Was just about to prove himself in the prem and anyone with a brain would have thought it’s probably worth keeping him a year for that alone. End of the day, the main issue is the sale of a young talent who the rest of the players loved as well.
