January signing Jarrod Bowen has given West Ham fans hope that they can survive relegation after an impressive game against Southampton on the weekend.
The Hammers won 3-1 as Bowen scored the first goal of the game with a delightful chip over Alex McCarthy in the first half. The winger, who was also wanted by Crystal Palace (Football London), signed for £19.17 million on transfer deadline day, per Transfermarkt. After the game, Bowen said, “I think that’s the way it went in my dreams last night.” (BBC Sport)
The winger had featured previously for West Ham, but both appearances came from the bench. David Moyes went with a more attacking side against Southampton and the gamble paid off. Indeed, Bowen received a 7.8 rating (Sofascore) and along with his goal, he made four tackles in the game.
The victory meant that West Ham moved up to 16th, but they are still level on 27 points with AFC Bournemouth in 18th.
Fans couldn’t stop sharing their love for the ‘brilliant’ player on social media:

Massive win.
Bowen brilliant. Haller miles better with runners off him. Shock. Three big points. Now we must push on from this. #whufc— David Bowden (@Bowdenwhu) February 29, 2020
