West Ham ‘send inquiry’ to sign 39-year-old free agent

West Ham United have reportedly made an enquiry about Jamie Vardy as the veteran striker weighs up his next move following his departure from Cremonese.

The 39-year-old is currently without a club after his contract with the Serie A side expired, leaving him free to consider offers from across the world.

According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, West Ham remain one of the Premier League options being considered by Vardy, who has also attracted interest from MLS and clubs in Brazil.

São Paulo are understood to have gone as far as making a proposal for the former England international, while Sheffield Wednesday are also keen. However, the financial complications surrounding Wednesday following their administration issues could make any agreement difficult.

Dorsett wrote on X: “Jamie Vardy considering offers from as far afield as Brazil, America and…. Sheffield.”

He added that São Paulo, several Premier League clubs and MLS sides have spoken to Vardy, with West Ham still an option.

Vardy now faces a major decision over the next chapter of his remarkable career, with the striker keen to ensure his next move is the right one for both himself and his family.

Elsewhere, West Ham are thought to be close to sealing the signing of Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson.
