Many West Ham United fans are far from happy with comments from Rio Ferdinand, who said that Newcastle United should go all-out to sign Declan Rice.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the last week or so, you will be aware of the seismic news which has come out of the northeast. A Saudi Arabian consortium completed a takeover of the St James’ Park club (BBC) and now they are likely to have plenty of money to spend on new players.
Rice is one of the Hammers’ star players and was instrumental in them qualifying for the Europa League last term. However, he has turned down a new contract at the Irons and has attracted heavy interest from Chelsea (The Sun) and Manchester United (Marca).
Ferdinand, who used to play for West Ham, has suggested that the Toon should move for Rice, and the 42-year-old’s remarks have not gone down well at all with some of his former club’s supporters.
Will Newcastle sign Rice?
The comments were shared on Twitter by The Daily Mail and they attracted plenty of attention from West Ham supporters. These fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what these fans had to say about Ferdinand’s comments on Rice
“Can’t stand the bloke. Forgot his roots and where he came from. Same reason why West Ham fans hate Lampard.”
“Rio would sell his nan for a fast buck”
“His affiliation with anything West Ham has completely gone for me !!”
“@anton_ferdinand Have a word with your brother mate. Can’t be heading up West Ham takeovers then putting this out”
“Wonder how many other clubs he will tell to buy Rice. Disliking him more and more these days”
“Rio, remember your roots, you should want West Ham do well, not sell one off our main players! No respect for West Ham at all, this is like 3rd time you mention other clubs go for Rice”
