Sky Italia journalist Nicola Roggero has spoken out about West Ham United player Nikola Vlasic amid his current loan spell at Torino.

The Lowdown: Vlasic struggles in London...

The former CSKA Moscow star put pen to paper on a move to east London in the summer of 2021, coming after a stellar season in Russia where he bagged 11 goals and five assists in 26 league games.

Vlasic's brilliant form prompted West Ham to grant him a return to the Premier League following a previous lacklustre spell at fellow English side Everton.

However, it wasn't second-time lucky for the Croatia international with manager David Moyes often snubbing him from the Hammers starting eleven.

After an unimpressive 2021/2022 campaign in east London, Vlasic was then sent out on loan to Torino for the rest of this current season.

The Latest: Roggero makes Vlasic claim...

Speaking to Toronews, as translated by Sport Witness, Sky Italy journalist Roggero says the midfielder is a 'quality' one but just can't seem to hack it in England with West Ham.

The reporter stated:

“In the Premier League, he was less successful than expected, both at Everton and West Ham. He’s a quality player and strangely in England, he was unable to deliver what he thought he was. I say strangely because he’s quick and efficient, so he is well suited to English football. In Russia, on the other hand, he did very well.”

The Verdict: Time to move on?

Depending on how his current loan spell with Torino goes, it may be time to move Vlasic on permanently.

The 24-year-old only managed a single goal in all competitions for West Ham last season and has already trebled that number in just five Serie A games for Torino so far (WhoScored).

These numbers are a major indicator that the forward just isn't suited to the physicality or intensity of English football, but going by his form in Turin so far, the Italians may well attempt to take Vlasic off West Ham's hands indefinitely.
