According to a West Ham United source, speaking to Football Insider, it has been agreed for Birmingham City ‘rising star‘ Rico Browne to link up with the Hammers ahead of undergoing a trial – with the youngster expected to arrive on Sunday.
West Ham opportunity for Browne
Browne has impressed for Birmingham but the club are reportedly looking to overhaul their youth set up – with David Moyes and West Ham expected to receive him on trial for a ‘few weeks‘ while coaches assess.
The Championship side are open to letting him leave despite the report saying he has made a major impression on them, and a suitable offer from GSB could result in Browne signing permanently.
This is all dependent on the trial, however, and he now looks set to undergo the audition when he arrives on Sunday.
Transfer Tavern take
Garnering his reputation as a rising star, the teenage defender will be gifted the opportunity to showcase what he can do at West Ham – but it’s unclear at the moment how much Birmingham would demand for Browne.
Former Blues starlet Calum Scanlon joined Liverpool in January for around £500,000, and the club will not stand in the Irons’ way if GSB table an enticing proposal for another one of their young stars.
Time will tell what comes of this report, but it could be one to keep an eye on.
