According to West Ham United insiders Claret & Hugh, sharing an update on Jesse Lingard after he was taken off against Newcastle United last weekend, the Englishman ‘will be fit’ to face Chelsea – backing up manager David Moyes’ statement that it was just cramp.
West Ham handed Lingard injury boost
Despite Moyes saying his star man had not succumbed to a serious injury, there have still been doubts from supporters, mainly because the Scotsman has previously thrown up ‘smoke screens’ when it comes to player fitness (C&H).
However, alleviating the concern over Lingard, C&H now provide an update in a big injury boost for West Ham – saying that the 28-year-old will in fact be fit for the Hammers’ crunch clash against Chelsea this weekend.
Amid all the backlash after England’s ‘top six’ announced they were joining the European Super League, with the competition since being suspended after they all backed out, West Ham are still in a race to qualify for the Champions League.
Who do West Ham need to sign this summer?
Transfer Tavern take
Lingard’s absence would have been a truly massive blow, especially against Thomas Tuchel’s reformed Chelsea side.
Both sides are locked on 55 points each heading into the weekend (Premier League), and the winner of this contest could take a huge leap forward in their quest for Europe.
Scoring nine goals and assisting three others in 10 top flight starts for West Ham so far (WhoScored), Lingard is absolutely crucial to Moyes’ hopes of making history.
Figures in the media have heralded him as ‘absolutely phenomenal’ for his run of form recently (talkSPORT), and this news he will be fit for Chelsea comes as a big boost.
