West Ham to land long-term deal despite Mourinho and Guardiola interest

According to The Sun, West Ham United’s Reece Oxford is set to sign a new contract in the next week or so with our resident Manchester United and Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern disappointed they are set to miss out on him.

The two city rivals have been linked with the young defender for some time with his contract scenario well documented but it now looks as though he is going to commit his future to the Hammers in a five-year deal.

There are some happy punters here in the Transfer Tavern with this news, then. The cluster of claret and blue fans are still reeling from throwing away three points against Tottenham on Saturday but they feel that getting Oxford to sign on could be huge for the future.

The terms of the deal are now reported to have been solved between the club and the player’s representatives so things should now just be a formality over the coming days.

One Hammers fan here by the bar said: “Reece Oxford could be a class international defender in the future and it’s good to see a young guy like that decide to stick somewhere where he is going to play more than move for the money.”
