West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has shared a significant update on the future of fan favourite defender Craig Dawson.

The Lowdown: Dawson home sick?

Over the summer, it was reported that the Irons cult hero was eager to move further north in an effort to be closer to his family with Dawson informing West Ham of his desire to leave.

Wolves were linked with a late move for the ex-West Brom defender but West Ham's failure to bring in more defensive reinforcements meant the Hammers couldn't green-light a deal and Dawson stayed put at the London Stadium.

The 32-year-old has been a mainstay for manager David Moyes since his move from Watford in 2020, especially last season, having made 34 Premier League appearances and starting 30 (WhoScored).

Since his failed summer exit, the club have been hopeful they can convince Dawson to pen fresh terms, but insider ExWHUemployee may have some bad news for supporters on that front.

The Latest: ExWHUemployee shares Dawson update...

The reliable Irons insider, via his West Ham Way website, now says the centre-back is 'eyeing a move away' from east London.

It's added that West Ham are still 'keen' to agree a new deal for Dawson but there are now 'doubts' over whether he will commit in a 'bitter blow' for the club.

As a result, if they cannot shake hands on fresh terms, the veteran defender could even depart in January rather than for nothing in the summer.

The Verdict: Bad news...

Dawson appears crucial for Moyes, having made 80 appearances in all competitions since joining West Ham nearly two years ago.

Supporters couldn't have envisaged just how much of a mainstay Dawson would become for Moyes with the Englishman averaging West Ham's highest rate of blocks per 90 in the top flight last season (WhoScored).

The colossal centre-back also made their second-most clearances behind fellow untouchable Kurt Zouma over 2021/2022, highlighting his real presence.

Taking this into account, it's little wonder members of the media have called him 'absolutely sensational' in the past couple of seasons.
