West Ham United suffered yet another Premier League defeat on Wednesday, going down 2-0 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
It was another disappointing evening for the Hammers who remain in the relegation zone after 26 games, one point adrift of Aston Villa and safety (BBC Sport).
In truth, it was a completely turgid display from the east London outfit against the champions, they had just 23% of possession in the match and perhaps the most telling stat was that they failed to have a single shot on target during the 90 minutes (BBC Sport).
A big reason for that could be to do with the team that David Moyes selected. The Scot went with no recognised striker on the pitch, with Michail Antonio and Robert Snodgrass playing in the most advanced positions (Transfermarkt). He did bring on new £20 million signing Jarrod Bowen who scored 16 times for Hull City in the Championship earlier this season (Transfermarkt), but that wasn’t until the 79th minute when the game was as good as over.
Loads of Hammers fans were absolutely fuming that Moyes left it so late to bring the 23-year-old on, with plenty suggesting that he should actually have started the match. Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
