West Ham United: Fans fuming with David Moyes for timing of Jarrod Bowen substitution

West Ham United produced a valiant display against Liverpool at Anfield on Monday before ultimately losing 3-2 to the champions-elect.

The Hammers had gone behind early on when Georginio Wijnaldum struck but managed to turn things around and goals from Issa Diop and Pablo Fornals gave them a shock lead. Ultimately they failed to hold on, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ensuring that the Reds gained all three points (BBC Sport).

Whilst there were plenty of positives for West Ham to take from Merseyside, one thing that has irked some of their supporters is David Moyes’ use of new signing Jarrod Bowen.

The 23-year-old joined the club from Hull City for £20 million in January (BBC Sport), but is yet to make a start for his new employers. Indeed, Moyes only brought him on in the 83rd minute at Anfield when they were behind and chasing the game (Transfermarkt).

It seems that many Hammers supporters feel that he should have been utilised earlier and have been critical of Moyes for leaving it so late to bring him on. Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…
