Everton have really struggled for form as of late, so it was very surprising to think that they didn’t sign anyone in the January transfer window.
In order to improve and become a better team, Everton need some more quality players and they missed a big opportunity to strengthen during the window.
Marco Silva is finding life hard at the moment and with the options available to him, he himself and the fans know he should be doing a lot better.
With greater freedom to spend potentially in the summer though, Everton must start eyeing up their targets now as that’s the only way their fortunes will improve.
It could take a lot of work on their behalf but Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie is 100% a player the Toffees should look at signing.
McKennie, (who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt) is a player who would definitely improve Everton in the middle of the park and could do a good job replacing Idrissa Gueye – should he leave this summer.
Already a USA international at the age of 20, Weston McKennie looks destined for great things in the game, simply because of his ability with the ball.
Schalke must love having a player like West McKennie, because of his versatility and quality wherever he plays on the pitch.
Whether it’s a deep-lying midfield role or further up supporting the attackers, McKennie can perform however he is required, something Everton would surely love to gain.
In the 21 total appearances he has made this season, McKennie has hit back with two goals and three assists whilst predominately playing in a box-to-box role.
At such a young age, Everton could be the club to nurture him and allow McKennie to unlock his full potential.
