The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted to see Manchester City finally slip up in the Premier League yesterday afternoon.

It’s not been easy for the Red Devils to watch their local-rivals enjoying such supreme levels of success so far this season, but they were finally handed some respite from the taunts of their so-called noisy neighbours yesterday, albeit courtesy of their equally bitter rivals Liverpool. Consequently, Manchester United will have the opportunity to close the gap on their local-rivals to 12 points against Stoke City at Old Trafford tonight.

The Potters will be eager to put an end to their dismal record away against United, as they have failed to record victory at Old Trafford in the entire history of the club.

However, the attention of the United supporters has been focused on a different subject entirely in the last 24 hours.

The Red Devils on Twitter were eager to discuss the announcement that their club legend Ryan Giggs will be confirmed as the new manager of the Welsh national team on Monday.

Giggs’ appointment represents his first foray into football management, and the supporters are clearly hoping that he can use his experience as a stepping stone towards taking the managerial role at United in the future.
