Stoke City’s fortunes are yet to improve since Nathan Jones succeeded Gary Rowett as manager with the club lagging behind in 17th place in the Championship table.
Whatever the case, Jones remains intent on having his Stoke side playing a certain way and utilising a player such as Bojan.
The 28-year-old had seen little action prior to Jones’ arrival, fuelling speculation of an exit last month.
West Brom were one team said to have been keen on bringing in Bojan with StokeOnTrentLive having reported that their interest went as far as an offer being made.
However, according to the same outlet, that offer was turned down with Jones wanting to bring the Spaniard back into the first-team fold.
Elsewhere, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague suggested that Jones sees Bojan more than just another squad number, stating the Stoke boss views the former Barcelona man as the ideal No.10 for his team.
And on paper, it is not hard to see why. Technically, Bojan is a very capable footballer, which you would expect from a Barcelona academy graduate formerly dubbed as the next Lionel Messi.
Obviously, that is a path the attacking midfielder ended up straying far, far, far away from with various loan spells across Europe doing his development no favours.
Still, Bojan has shown enough quality and skill in a Stoke shirt to suggest he is the type of No.10 to build the team around.
And at this point, the Potters simply have nothing to lose by giving the former AC Milan and Ajax loanee that added responsibility.
