Barnsley made a number of changes in the summer as they prepared for the challenges of League One after an unfortunate Championship campaign.
The Tykes would have had their sights set on securing promotion straight back to the Championship in the current campaign, with the summer signing of Kieffer Moore certainly helping their cause.
However, one player that has really defied expectations in the current campaign is Brad Potts.
Barnsley secured the services of the midfielder back in the summer of last year for an undisclosed fee from League One side Blackpool. And, it’s safe to say that he hasn’t looked back since making the move to Oakwell, as he scored four goals and provided three assists in the last campaign.
But, the Tykes were reported to have rejected a £500,000 offer for the 24-year-old back in the summer months from an unnamed club, with an offer in the region of £1 million possibly forcing them into considering a sale.
So, with the midfielder enjoying an even better campaign this time round with six goals and three assists to his name already, it would come as no surprise if the vultures start circling in the January transfer window.
This is the last thing that supporters would want as he has been one of their standout performers this season and will play a huge part in the rest of their campaign if he stays.
Therefore, with promotion to the Championship in the offing if things go to plan, losing Brad Potts in January would rule them out of the race as they’d be losing one of their main contributors for both assists and goals.
What do you think Barnsley fans?
