One thing that Leeds fans are acutely aware of is their high turnover of managers in recent years.
In fact, in the last four seasons, The Whites have had ten different managers. Then again, this is well documented. What may not be so well known is the history of their current manager Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentinian has barely spent more than two years at any club he has ever managed.
While fans will say that he is having an immense amount of success at Elland Road so far, and could well lead The Whites to the Premier League, that certainly does not mean that he has not been successful at other clubs. His most successful managerial spell of recent years was with Athletic Bilbao, where he won the Copa del Rey and was a runner-up in the Europa League in his first season, but he was sacked come the next season.
In his following jobs, a combination of poor performances and conflicts with senior members of clubs saw him endure fairly unsuccessful spells at Marseille, Lazio and Lille before he joined Leeds.
Basically, despite the purple patch that Leeds are experiencing at the moment, sat in second place in the Championship, no one knows what the future holds.
Now his various departures could be due to a problem with the personnel at each club, then again, sometimes there is no smoke without fire. This is a worrying trend with every club that he has been at, that it often ends unpleasantly. Moreso, what this trend shows is that Bielsa rarely has a lengthy spell at a club, regardless of how successful he has been.
Yes, Leeds look in their best position to secure promotion to the Premier League in well over a decade, and if that were to happen, it would seem unimaginable that the Argentinian would ever leave. But if history is anything to go by, things can turn sour very quickly.
