Blackburn Rovers are in for Fulham striker Andrew Johnson so say our old friends at Sky Sports
Goals have not been a problem for Rovers’ under fire manager Steve Kean. Yet, Rovers boss feels that Johnson will add a different dimension to the Ewood Park attack. Johnson has done well when selected by Fulham boss Martin Jol this season, scoring 8 times in Europe and 3 more times in the league.
With Johnson’s contract being up in the summer and also being behind the likes of Bobby Zamora, Clint Dempsey and Brian Ruiz in the Craven Cottage pecking order Rovers feel that they can get their man.
Johnson would certainly add hard work an eye for goal and the right attitude to a team who will be battling for the Premier League lives.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Fulham are being linked with Catania forward Maxi Lopez.
Martin Jol has been told that Fulham will have to part with up to £6.5million for Catania’s Argentine striker. Fulham have had an initial loan offer for Lopez rejected and have been told that any deal for the front man will have to be permanent.
With doubts surrounding the futures of current strikers Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora, Martin Jol is looking to add another forward to his Craven Cottage squad. The 27-year-old Catania man is hot property around Europe with the likes of AC Milan and Fiorentina said to be interested.
Another man said to be on the Cottagers wish list is West Brom’s Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie according to the Daily Mail. Fulham feel that they can tempt their former boss Hodgson with an offer of £3million plus two of his favourites from his time at Craven Cottage, Chris Baird and Damien Duff. Informal talks have taken place between both clubs over a potential move south for the 30-year-old striker.
Odemwingie had an outstanding first season in England hitting 15 goals for the Baggies in their successful return to the Premier League. He has failed to hit top form this season only hitting four goals in 17 league games this season. Odemwingie’s relationship with West Brom boss Hodgson is said to be poor with the manager openly criticising the forwards work rate last November.
