It was a day to forget for left-back Marcal as Wolves lost 1-0 in the dying embers of Saturday’s home game.

A last-gasp penalty from Anwar El Ghazi was the difference between the two sides as Aston Villa claimed all three points, in a match where statistically speaking, Wolves were the better team as far as creating chances were concerned (Fotmob).

However, Marcal made his fifth start of the season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and was largely ineffective from a defensive and a possession-based point of view.

Per Sofascore, the 31-year-old did not make any tackles, lost the ball 13 times, came off second best in five duels and misplaced five long balls.

Wolves will live to fight another day after what was a relatively strong performance, albeit the absence of Raul Jimenez was glaring.

That being said, Marcal, who earns £35k-per-week at Molineux (Spotrac), will have to put in better performances if he is to keep his place in the side going forwards.

In other news, Former Premier League star hugely concerned for Wolves amid ‘tricky period.’
