Wolves: Report shares huge Matheus Cunha transfer update - Premier League News

Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have been handed a huge update on the club’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha.

The Lowdown: Lopetegui era begins…

After sacking former boss Bruno Lage at the beginning of October, with the Premier League side currently bottom and in real threat of relegation, the Old Gold have turned to experienced managerial replacement Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard has trophy-winning experience, having won a Europa League title with ex-club Sevilla, whilst also possessing many seasons in the Champions League on his illustrious CV.

Lopetegui’s presence at Molineux could also help to attract some real star quality, and according to Marca, there has been a big update on Wolves’ chase for Cunha.

The Latest: Wolves close in on Cunha…

Indeed, the Spanish media outlet claim Wolves are now in pole position to sign the Brazilian forward, who ‘seems to have his hours counted’ at Atletico.

It is believed that Cunha ‘will become a Wolverhampton player’ in January and is now ‘close’ to joining Lopetegui’s side.

The Verdict: Exciting…

Despite not exactly scoring a wave goals since signing for the La Liga side, Cunha has been called a dribbling phenomenon and once starred for Hertha Berlin before joining Atletico.

He’s also just 23-years-old, meaning there is plenty of room for improvement and many years to hone his skills as an effective attacking outlet for Wolves.

Lopetegui will have a hand in his new club’s transfer output and it’s clear the 56-year-old will see something in Cunha if Wolves are making this move.
