The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has reacted to some footage coming from Sheffield United regarding Wolves loanee Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Lowdown: Gibbs-White's loan move

The 22-year-old linked up with the Blades at the start of the campaign, having joined on a season-long loan from boyhood club Wolves.

The central midfielder has gone on to take the Championship by storm, scoring eight and assisting seven in 24 appearances for Paul Heckingbottom’s side.

Gibbs-White recently claimed that he is progressing rapidly due to his move to Sheffield, where he is receiving regular first-team game time in the second tier of English football.

The Latest: Spiers stunned

In Chris Wilder’s return to Bramall Lane, Sheffield United faced off against Middlesbrough last night, cruising to a 4-1 victory, taking them up to fifth place in the Championship table.

Gibbs-White’s 79th minute goal stole the headlines, with an “incredible flick” dazzling spectators as the ball flew into the bottom corner.

Sky Sports reacted by tweeting “WHAT A GOAL!”, however, it was Tim Spiers’ response that ignited a stir, launching Wolves fans into a frenzy.

“Dial 9 for filth”.

As a result, numerous Wanderers fans took to the comments, calling for the club to bring the midfielder back to Wolves for the remainder of the season.

The Verdict: Fantastic prospect

With the 22-year-old’s emphatic start to life with the Blades, it is clear to see why Wolves fans are getting so excited for the midfielder’s return next season.

United teammate David McGoldrick  hailed praise on the youngster, claiming: “Yeah he’s got the world at his feet. You know, great kid, great player. He’s got all the ability in the world”.

Club legend Billy Sharp also weighed in on Gibbs-White’s loan spell with the club, revealing: “Morgan’s come in and been instrumental. Scoring goals, creating goals. He really gets the crowd off their feet”.

Wolves fans will be hoping that the central midfielder can have the same effect on their side when he returns to the Molineux over the summer.
