Wolves: Steve Madeley says ‘Fosun have no plans to sell’

Wolves journalist Steve Madeley has been discussing takeover talk from the Molineux faithful during a Q&A for The Athletic.

The Lowdown: Memorable six years

Fosun bought Wanderers back in 2016, during which time they have overseen a largely positive period in the club’s great history.

In 2017/18, Wolves battled their way back into the Premier League and they have since become an established top-flight club again, even threatening to break into the European regulars at times.

Fosun have kept the club in a healthy financial position and the hope is that they will continue to invest in the playing squad.

The Latest: Madeley reacts to takeover chatter

Speaking in a Q&A for The Athletic, Madeley responded to fan talk of a possible takeover.

One supporter noted that this year’s writing off of debts owed to Fosun feels like a pre-takeover move, but the reporter all but confirmed that is not the case:

“I’m assured Fosun have no plans to sell up at the moment.”

The Verdict: Good news for Wolves

This is undoubtedly a positive update overall, even though like any club, there are some supporters who may not be as fond of Fosun as others.

They have spent well over the years, bringing in big-money signings such as Raul Jimenez, Daniel Podence and Matheus Nunes, while they have also been shrewd in earning good money for Diogo Jota and Morgan Gibbs-White, among others.

Eventually, the day will likely come when Fosun decide to sell up, but hopefully their legacy continues on an upwards trajectory for some time yet, though they may have to bite the bullet and splash out big on a striker next year in order for that to happen.
