One United fan is chatting to our landlord about the January transfer window and he thinks that the club will probably look to splash the cash once again, in a bid to ensure a decent crack at getting closer to leaders Chelsea.

If you read what you read in the newspaper, then the Swedish defender is nailed on for a move to the Premier League during the January transfer window.

With Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo hardly the most confidence filling central defensive pairing, United could look to strengthen their ranks with a move for the Benfica man.

The 22-year-old would be seen as an investment for the future and one fan here in the Tavern thinks his arrival is a much needed one.

One area of the pitch where United might look for an improvement is in defensive midfield, with Mourinho no doubt tempted to raid his former club.

The 28-year-old is a younger model of the in-form Michael Carrick and he would be a quality addition for Manchester United this January.

One United supporter is getting stuck into an early Christmas pint here in the Tavern and he thinks that the club should do all they can to secure the services of Matic, although he doubts whether Chelsea would sell to an immediate rival at this stage of the season.
