Jose Mourinho is not a manager known for giving youth much of a chance, but he may have to change his ways if he wants Manchester United to win another Premier League title in his tenure.
The Manchester United gaffer has publicly criticised young players in the past. Luke Shaw was singled out for his wrath last season.
Mourinho’s approach is a far cry from the past. Under the tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the ‘Class of 92’ emerged as world beaters at Old Trafford.
Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Gary and Phil Neville all emerged out of United’s prestigious youth system, and went on to achieve incredible things together. Alex Ferguson built his team around ‘Fergies Fledglings’ and achieved unprecedented success.
Jose Mourinho has limited the game time of Marcus Rashford, one of the most exciting young talents in English football. He has frozen out, or loaned out, some of the Old Trafford outfit’s most promising stars.
The Portuguese manager should take a leaf out of Sir Alex’s book, and place more faith upon United’s young players.

Timothy Fosu-Menah impressed in his time at Crystal Palace last season.
He is rated as a £6.3m talent by Transfermarkt.
A strong and technical player with lots of strength, Fosu-Mensah would add steel to United’s back line. Jose Mourinho should have some patience with the Dutchman and let him establish himself as a first team starter. For a man of his ability and physical statute, it is important to remember he is still just 20 and will improve.
At the very minimum, the Portuguese manager should play the player in all domestic cup matches next term.

The attacking midfielder is a real prospect.
Tricky and skilful whilst also possessing pace, the London born Gomes would add a different dynamic to United’s play. He has impressed in the youth set ups of both Manchester United and England.
When he picks up the ball he always seems to have time and is composed enough to weave his way around defenders and get a shot away. He would really improve if Jose Mourinho gave him time in the first team, and was patient enough with the player to allow for the fact he may make some mistakes.
