The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been sharing their love for Dirk Kuyt after he played in the 5-5 draw between Liverpool and Bayern Munich’s legends game on Saturday. Kuyt opened the scoring in the goal-laden game as he opened the scoring after just five minutes. The Dutchman made his comments whilst in an interview for Liverpool’s website after the game.
The 37-year-old retired last year after captaining Feyenoord to the Eredivisie following a stellar career that saw him make over 280 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 71 goals in his time at Anfield. Following his departure from Anfield in 2012 after a six-year spell on Merseyside, it was clear how much the legendary Dutchman enjoyed his return to Liverpool as he scored once again for the club with a terrific header.
The Liverpool fans have a strong connection with their former player and made their feelings for Kuyt known on Twitter as the fan pined over their former player. It was a day for all to celebrate as the fans had a chance to admire and reminisce over some of the club’s most legendary players, Kuyt lined up with ex-teammates Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Luis Garcia for the match and the flying Dutchman will have savoured every minute of the fantastic game.
