The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reading the latest transfer rumour linking them with a striker, and they’re not happy with this one. According to Football Ghana, the Magpies are looking at Swansea striker, Jordan Ayew. The 26-year-old was The Swans’ top goalscorer last season but he’s keen to leave the Liberty after suffering his second Premier League relegation.
#NUFC have expressed an interest in signing Swansea forward Jordan Ayew. Ayew was Swansea's top scorer with 11 goals last season and he's keen to leave South Wales following their relegation from the Premier League. Swansea want £13M. [Football Ghana]

The Geordies currently have a problem with strikers. No one at the club managed to hit double figures for them, despite the fact they finished 10th in what was a successful season for them. Dwight Gayle, Joselu and Aleksandar Mitrovic all struggled to consistently find the net and then on-loan Islam Slimani joined from Leicester in January and failed to score a single goal in his loan spell with the club, although he was hampered by injury and suspension.
Now though, with Gayle supposedly leaving the club this summer, the fans will be hoping Benitez can spend what little money he does have on a striker who can at least reach double figures in the Premier League. They’ll be praying though, that Jordan Ayew isn’t that man. The Ghanian forward was relegated from the Premier League for the second time in his career this season, after also going down with Aston Villa back in 2016 and the fans have been vocal as they don’t want the Swansea man on Tyneside.

If Swansea want £13m, NUFC definitely aren’t paying that.

It’s obvious from the fans reaction that Ayew is not the one the fans want to see on Tyneside as they continue to scour the market for a more suitable striker to don their famous number nine shirt.
