Liverpool: Fans disappointed as European clubs emerge in pursuit of Xherdan Shaqiri

Plenty of Liverpool fans have been reacting to reports that various clubs are looking to take Xherdan Shaqiri off the Reds’ hands before tonight’s transfer deadline.

The 28-year-old’s future at Anfield has been up in the air for some time as he hasn’t had the amount of game time in Jurgen Klopp’s squad that he may have liked.

Since his £13m move from Stoke City back in 2018, Shaqiri has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 42 outings (per TransferMarkt). With only 1,751 minutes under his belt during that timeframe, the Switzerland international is believed to want more game time and as such, he wants to leave Anfield.

The Liverpool Echo previously revealed that Sevilla, Roma and Lazio are three sides in Europe that are keen on acquiring his services, with Goal also suggesting that a return to the Bundesliga could be a possibility after previously playing for Bayern Munich.

This comes after Roma had a bid rejected to take him on loan back in January, with the Reds taking into their account their league run-in during what was an unforgettable campaign for them last season.

With this in mind, supporters were still disappointed with the news, taking into account that players such as Divock Origi and Harry Wilson are still in the squad, as you can see below.
