The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty excited today…
It had been a slow summer for the Red Devils so far, with Jose Mourinho clearly keen to ensure that the deals that get done are all best for business.
That lack of pace came to an abrupt end this week, though, with Man Utd officially confirming the arrival of Victor Lindelof at Old Trafford – with the defender moving to Old Trafford from Portuguese outfit Benfica.
The Red Devils had, of course, announced that they had agreed terms with Benfica over a deal several days ago, with a medical taking place and personal terms agreed since that point.
For Man Utd, the deal is certainly an exciting one. They struggled at the back last season, and whilst Eric Bailly looked very good in his debut season, he desperately needed a top partner to impress alongside him. Now, it seems as though Lindelof will be that player – and the fans in the Transfer Tavern couldn’t be happier. Even now, more than 24 hours after the fact, they can hardly contain their excitement.
