Sometimes, even in the Transfer Tavern, petty rivalry is put to one side when wider footballing issues unfortunately rear their ugly heads on our screens.
Last night, the ever-popular Fernando Torres suffered a scare during Atletico Madrid’s game with Deportivo La Coruna when he was stretchered off with an awful looking head injury following a clash with defender Alex Bergantinos late on in their draw.
Thankfully, the former Liverpool and Chelsea marksman is now out of hospital following an overnight stay and has reassured fans it was just a scare. Indicative of his popularity on these shores amongst both the Blues and the Reds in the bar, there’s been a swathe of support on social media for the World Cup winner.
