2 issues Brendan Rodgers seriously needs to sort at Celtic in the summer

It’s been a wonderful season for the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern.

The Bhoys have dominated the Scottish Premiership this year as well as Scottish Football in what will be regarded as a really successful year in Brendan Rodgers’ first year at the club, and our landlord believes Celtic could dominate Scottish Football in years to come especially following the instability at their arch rivals, Rangers, this season.

Of course, there is still some work to put in and the off season is a great time for Rodgers to really iron out the creases that he believes he needs to in order to take the Bhoys to the next level.

To say the Celtic fans in the Tavern aren’t excited about the future would be an understatement but they are an opinionated bunch, and it is clear from the talk flying around the Tavern that they also have thoughts on what issues need to be sorted out at Celtic this summer.

Though it’s hard to believe that a team who have gone unbeaten in the league this season do have issues, our landlord actually agrees with what the Celtic fans are saying, and he himself has outlined TWO main issues Rodgers needs to sort out this summer.

Let’s take a look at them here…

Preparing for the Champions League

Whilst this may be an issue that Rodgers will have to address during the season, our landlord feels that it is vital that Celtic build a squad over the summer that is capable of competing in the Champions League.

This is because the competition is so simple for the Bhoys in Scottish Football that in order to be a really impressive force a stronger performance in Europe is surely needed to really satisfy the board and the fans of the club.

Rodgers must spend the summer looking at his squad and ensuring he signs quality and not quantity, in order to take his side to the next level.

Keeping key players

One of the issues after any successful season for Celtic is the desires of their players to move south to try their hand in the Premier League.

The likes of Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney especially have been linked with several Premier League clubs and the Hoops in the Tavern are really hoping that Brendan Rodgers can keep the nucleus of his squad in order to build on a wonderful season this year.

Of course, English football is seen as the highest standard, but our landlord believes this issue will be helped with the lure of Champions League football on the table.
