Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern have been reasonably satisfied with their side’s recent seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, although there is an element of frustration given that they could and perhaps should have won all seven of those matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s men let slip a three-goal at half time to only muster a 3-3 draw with Sevilla in their penultimate Champions League group stage clash last week, which means that the Reds will have to wait until the final round of matches to book their place in the knockout stages. And although they looked set to get back to winning ways against Chelsea on Saturday, with Mohamed Salah giving them a 65th minute lead, Willian’s floated effort sailed over the head of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet five minutes from time to secure a 1-1 draw for Antonio Conte’s Blues, and thus instigate Liverpool’s fall to sixth in the Premier League table.

Nonetheless, the Reds did get back to winning ways last night with a comfortable 3-0 win at Stoke City, with in-form Salah bagging a brace off the bench, and as such there is renewed optimism among our resident Liverpudlians after a frustrating week.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for those Reds fans lining up at the bar to discuss, not least recent comments from Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce, who has advised Liverpool forward Dominic Solanke to leave Anfield in January for regular first team football.

The 20-year-old made the move to Merseyside during the summer but has yet to start a Premier League game for Klopp’s men, while his overall tally of seven first team appearances have yet to yield any goals.

But having made his senior England debut earlier this month, the striker could well be on Gareth Southgate’s radar ahead of this summer’s World Cup, yet regular gametime is likely needed for Solanke to make the final 23-man squad.

And with Bruce making clear his views on the 20-year-old’s situation, he could well be interested in the forward, and were Solanke to make the move to Villa Park in January, here are TWO other Liverpool stars who could follow him to the second tier side…

Andrew Robertson

Andrew Robertson’s move to Liverpool hasn’t quite worked out as of yet, with Alberto Moreno’s improved form at left-back the cause of the Scot’s lowly appearance tally.

The Spaniard’s indifferent efforts last term were a likely reason for Klopp to go out and land Robertson over the summer, but the former has improved dramatically to restrict the summer signing to just two Premier League starts so far, the last of which coming back in September.

Thus, the 23-year-old could well seek a loan move away in January in a bid for regular football, and with Villa boss Bruce having worked with him before at Hull, and Robertson knowing what it takes to get out of the Championship, a reunion at Villa Park could well be in the offing.

Ben Woodburn

Ben Woodburn burst onto the scene little over 12 months ago by becoming Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer in their League Cup win over Leeds United at Anfield, and a full Wales cap has since followed in what has been a meteoric rise.

However, such is the plethora of attacking talent at Klopp’s disposal, the 18-year-old has added just nine further first team appearances for the Reds of which only one has come this term, and for the youngster to fulfil his undoubted potential, gametime in the lower leagues may be needed.

And Villa Park could be the ideal destination for Woodburn, with Bruce likely in the market for attacking reinforcements given that star striker Jonathan Kodjia faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines following ankle surgery last week.
