West Ham supporters have been pretty despondent in the Transfer Tavern this weekend after seeing their side go down 2-0 to Marco Silva’s Watford on Sunday, in what was David Moyes’ first match in charge following the sacking of Slaven Bilic a fortnight ago.
The Croat lost his job on November 6 after seeing the Hammers slip into the Premier League’s bottom three with defeat to Liverpool a few days earlier, and former Everton and Manchester United chief Moyes was named as his replacement almost immediately. Yet the Scotsman hasn’t got off to the best of starts as the East London outfit lost 2-0 to Watford on Sunday, with goals from Will Hughes and Richarlison securing a comfortable victory for the Hornets, who moved up to eighth place as a result and in turn kept West Ham in the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Thus, there have been many unhappy Hammers fans in the Tavern this weekend after their team’s lethargic efforts at Vicarage Road, and many will already be turning their attentions to their crucial home game with Claude Puel’s Leicester City on Friday night.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for those West Ham supporters lining up at the bar to get their teeth into, not least recent reports which suggest that Manchester United are keeping tabs on youngster Domingos Quina ahead of a possible January move.
The 17-year-old moved to West Ham as a youth player back in 2016 following three years at Chelsea, and has since gone on to appear four times for the senior side at the London Stadium, two of which coming this season.
But with no appearances in the Premier League so far this term, and the midfielder having yet to pen a new deal at the club, his future has been thrown into doubt, with Jose Mourinho’s United reportedly monitoring Quina ahead of a possible move.
And should the 17-year-old leave West Ham in the New Year, here are TWO other Hammers stars who could follow him out of the club in January…
Cheikhou Kouyate
Midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate made the move to West Ham back in 2014 after a long association with Belgian giants Anderlecht, and he has since had varying degrees of success in East London.
The 27-year-old has played 128 games for the Hammers in the last three years but hasn’t always been convincing in the middle of the park – arguably he performed better last season when Slaven Bilic reverted to a back three.
And the Senegal international, fresh from helping his country qualify for the World Cup next summer, has been linked with a possible move away from the London Stadium in January.
And with reports linking West Ham with William Carvalho once again, Kouyate could well be a surplus to requirements at the club come January, which could thus result in him ending his stay in East London.
Angelo Ogbonna
Italy international Angelo Ogbonna moved to West Ham back in 2015 after a short and ultimately unsuccessful time with Juventus, yet he has proven to be an adept centre-back at Premier League level.
The 29-year-old has played 74 games for the Hammers in the last few years yet only managed 20 league appearances last term before a knee operation back in January all but ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
But the defender hasn’t always been first choice this time round, and reports recently have linked him with a move to Italian giants AC Milan, who are reportedly after defensive reinforcements in the January window.
And having had a taste of Serie A during his spell at Juventus, Ogbonna could well be tempted by a return to his homeland in the New Year.
